Strengths Summary:
This resource is a collection of 23 short programs on a variety of historical and contemporary First Nations issues in Canada. Some of the issues addressed include: First Nations perspectives on history, culture, spirituality, education, justice, the environment, racism, colonialism, and the role of women. An accompanying Teacher’s Guide provides background information into issues explored in each video and suggests topics for classroom discussion, classroom activities, and additional resources for the teacher. The focus of this resource is on structural forms of violence, ie: ways in which First Nations groups have been discriminated against, disenfranchised and disempowered in Canadian society.
